What These Numbers Mean

A settlement is the amount the at-fault party's insurance company agreed to pay to resolve the claim. It is not a jury verdict. In most personal injury cases, settlement is the result -- a negotiated figure reached after Julian has built the case, documented the damages, and engaged the insurer.

The $675,000 wrongful death settlement represents the type of case where the stakes are highest and the insurance company's resistance is strongest. A two-year statute of limitations applies to wrongful death claims in North Carolina under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 1-53(4), measured from the date of death -- not the accident. Getting full value out of these cases requires moving early and building the file before critical evidence disappears.

The auto accident settlements range based on the nature of injuries, the available insurance coverage, and the facts of each individual crash. North Carolina's pure contributory negligence rule means a single finding of 1% fault on the part of the injured person can eliminate recovery entirely. These cases require experienced handling from day one.

Medical malpractice cases in North Carolina carry strict procedural requirements, including a Rule 9(j) expert certification before filing. The results above reflect cases where those requirements were met and the cases were resolved in the client's favor.
